
Ian Knight has 30 years experience in the food industry. In Canada and the United Kingdom with Tate & Lyle, and now in the USA, he has gained wide experience in international Scientific and Regulatory Affairs, and Scientific Communications in more than three countries on two continents.
He was responsible for the Canadian approval of sucralose, its first and most important approval in the world. He also developed a crisis communication plan for Tate & Lyle’s Canadian subsidiary.
Information seminars were conducted across Canada as part of an effective and highly successful integrated health professional communications plan he developed, in support of the marketing of sucralose. The audiences attending them comprised dietitians, nutritionists and related medical professionals in five major cities.
Experienced in dealing with international regulatory authorities, he has filed dossiers around the world and lobbied governments to facilitate timely resolution of issues critical to the food industry
Ian has convened groups of independent international scientific experts in order to provide advice as well as to author book chapters for nutrition texts, under his editorship, such as the new chocolate book from Blackwell Science (UK) Click here for more details.
He has recently returned from Africa, where he was part of a nutrition assessment team sent out by USAID.
Extensively trained in media interview techniques, he has participated in press conferences and developed effective communications materials.
An international speaker and author on sweeteners, chocolate and food legislation issues, he has a presentation style which has proven popular with both professional and consumer audiences.
